Post-master’s certificate program: Francophone Practice for SLPs
The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Faculté Saint-Jean at the University of Alberta are honoured to congratulate the first graduates of the Post-master’s Certificate Program with a Specialization in Francophone Practice for Speech-Language Pathologists. «Félicitations» to Heather Elliott, Genevieve Gerard, Maryse Guenette, Suzanne Sauvé and Jasmine Travers.
This post-professional educational program was created to support SLPs who work with Francophone clients with communication disorders. The three graduate level courses culminate in a post-master’s Certificate. Courses focus on socio-cultural-linguistic issues in francophone/bilingual contexts, normal and disordered speech and language development, and assessment and intervention materials for children and adults in Francophone populations. We are fortunate that this program is supported by the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS), which allows fees to be set at usual student rates, rather than at cost recovery rates.
We’re looking forward to another exciting spring and summer when we will offer two courses. We are very pleased that Dr. Martin Beaudoin will return to teach REHAB 550 (see description below) which he has generously developed in an on-line format. It will be available starting in April. Offering REHAB 550 on-line will give people a chance to get the pre-requisite information for the August course, REHAB 552 (description below). We are excited that Dr. Elin Thordardottir from McGill University will return to teach REHAB 552, the course she developed and taught in 2008.
